I'd go with the Grappler compatible card. It is the more widely supported.
Also, if you plan to use a DeskJet with your IIgs you'll need to buy
printer driver software. There are two sources for the drivers: Seven
Hills Software sells 'Independence' and Shareware Solutions II sells
'Harmonie'. Both packages have DeskJet drivers. I only have Harmonie
so I can't comment on Independence but Harmonie provides a Grappler
Parallel port driver as well.

I've been very pleased with my purchase of Harmonie. ($20 from SSII).

Harmonie may have drivers for other parallel cards but I don't remember
(and I'm away from my IIgs at the moment).

Both Seven Hills and Shareware Solutions II have web sites with info
on these products.
