Hi, I have an apple//c and I was having trouble with booting up also. I
kept getting the "check disk drive" message. I finally got fed up and
took the drive apart and took rubbing alcohol and clean the reading and
writing gizmo and guess what, works like new. Don't be afraid to take
the drive apart, it looks complicated but it really is a simple project.
