Tom,

I'm assuming you have DOS 3.3 which was the 8 bit Apple II OS which
preceded ProDOS 8. ProDOS 8 (originally called simply ProDOS) is
available from the www.apple.com site (other csa2 users may be able
to provide the exact URL). The current version is 2.0.3. It requires
an Apple IIe, IIc, IIc+, IIgs (with a 65C02 CPU and a minimum of
128KB of memory). Please note: I believe after downloading you will
need to extract the files from the archive file. I never had a need
to download these files but they may be in the .bxy format. Perhaps
they are also in the Mac .hqx (BinHEX) format. You'll need a way
(read: need a utility) which can extract these file formats. The
major Apple II ftp sites will have what you need.

Although this newsgroup recently went through quite a 'flap' over
the Apple II FAQ files, they are still available on-line (in fact,
there are 2 separate rival FAQs) and are a valuable source of
Apple II info.

No need to apologize. Try to get a hold of one of the FAQ files. They
definitely will come in handy.

Good luck,

Paul.
