Well, as they say, "You can't grep dead trees" so if utility is the
only measure the e-book wins hands down.

That said, I *like* looking things up in the old Apple manuals and
have been known to while away an evening just (re)reading a manual and
picking up something I hadn't previously noticed.

So I'd say that the small space occupied by e-books means I don't have
to choose, and can have my cake and eat it too.
