Those remove replys just confirm that it is an active email account.  The worst spammer
,IMHO, is uu.net.  They sponsor a company called TCPS that send pornographic and "Are
you being investigated?" Type of crap.  Repeated emails to uu.net go unanswered.
Another bad place is juno.com.  When I try to email their postmaster to tell them to
stop giving TCPS free email accounts.  They either send me a "The account you listed has
been terminated" or a "We believe that tag lines are important for us" crap response.
I really don't think that a live human is reading those emails.
