I'll bet you caused this. Look very closely at the keyboard. I'll bet
that when you put the machine back together, you got the keyboard offset
slightly to the right so that the `/~ key is jammed against the power
light. An easy way to check...remove the screws from the bottom panel and
remove the upper case, then power up the machine and see if you still have
problems. If you don't then the solution is to loosen up the four screws
holding the keyboard in place, shove the keyboard over just a fraction of
an inch, tighten it all up again and reinstall the top case.

If you can find one, it ought to fit, I think. The big change was with
the later beige enhanced machines, where the keyboard attaches to the
upper case instead of to the two standards attached to the bottom
panel...and I think (but I am not sure) that the keyboard mounting ears
are the same; it's just that the screws go into the upper case from the
bottom instead of into the keyboard support from the top.
The platinum keyboards won't work though...they have too many keys... 8-)
