Strategies for saving files

I've had a similar thing happen to me on a Windows PC (or at least
the fear of something like this happening, I can't recall exactly
right now) so I have a strategy for saving files. I save them under
two or more filenames.
For example, if I was writing a file called "SSII" I would save it
under that. Later, I would use "Save as" and change the file
name to "SSIIb" and save it as that. And so forth.
Depending on how careful you want to be, you could use just
two file names or more.
I started doing this when I discovered that WordPerfect does
this automatically. I was so impressed with the usefulness of
this function that I use it whenever I save anything on any
program on any computer. ;-)
