i think the point was to provide a means of letting you point to
syndicomm.com without hassle, or even use pages that REFER to
syndicomm..... either way, it makes for less hassle. (did that make
any sense?)
putting syndicomm's IP address in the URL works okay if you're going
there directly, but if you're looking at a page that links to
syndicomm and hasn't been updated in a while (like since this access
problem started), then the only way you'll get it to work yourself is
to have an entry in your hosts file.
the Browsers for different OSs expect to find the file in different
places. on WinDOZE boxes, it's in C:\WINDOWS. on *nix machines, it's
in /etc ...
