Usually the card came with a small speaker that had a built-in
volume knob. Some people like using it with that speaker velcroed
to the side of the monitor for instant volumne adjustment. If you
want to listen to music or stereo sound there are much better cards.
The onely usefull purpose of the card is to have a handy volumne
knob, if you just have the card by itself I'd take it out and maybe
give it to a IIe or II+ user.
