I'm a goof... and I deserve any harassemnt I get for that. :) I should,
by now, get the address of my own page right.

I'll print them at the bottom of this post...

I want them to write about the Apple IIgs one month in their "This old
Mac" column. They seem to think it's not Mac enough, though. Oh well...
that's besides the point.

That's good to know. Thanks a lot for taking the time!

P.S. The answers (and questions) are as follows. Again, they are only
accurate to the best of my knowledge, so any further/better information is
appreciated.

1. Shortly before the creation of Apple Computer Company, Steve Jobs worked:

    For Hewlett-Packard
    At Hombrew Computer
    For Motorola
    At McDonald's
    In an Apple Orchard

In an apple orchard. Because of this, and a lack of creativity at the
time, Wozniak and Jobs chose to name their company Apple.

As for the other choices: Woz worked for Hewlett-Packard. He was also a
member of Homebrew Computer Club. Apple has always used Motorola
processors in their computers. And McDonald's had nothing to do with
anything.

2. The original Apple I computers were sold at a small computer shop, at
the price of:

    $100.00
    $666.66
    $999.95
    $1,100.11
    $2,500.00

$666.66.

3. The name of the shop in which these first Apples were sold was:

    Quality Computers
    The Byte Shop
    Nybbler's Northwest
    Big Red
    California Computer Parts

The Byte Shop. The other choices either came around long after the Apple
I (which shows I don't know much about early computer shops) or were
products of my imagination (I'm sure you can guess which two those were!).

4. Steve Wozniak was quoted as saying "It's Amazing!" on the cover of the
October 1986 InCider magazine in response to the release of which Apple
computer?

    The Apple IIgs
    The Apple IIc+
    The Apple III
    The (first) Macintosh
    The Macintosh LC

The Apple IIgs.

5. The dogcow's name is...

    Max
    Clarus
    Spot
    Freelance
    Cyberdog

The dogcow's name is Clarus.

6. And what does a dogcow say?

    Marf
    Mooarf
    Moof
    Moowoof
    Oom oom

A dogcow says moof.

7. Elk Cloner, Festering Hate, Burp, and Blackout are all:

    Apple II Viruses
    Macintosh Viruses
Nicknames of people who work for 1-800-SOS-APPLE
Nicknames of some of the people who programmed AOL software for Mac
Nicknames of some of Apple's former CEOs

A few answers may apply, but the first is (technically) correct.

8. Beagle Bros. Software was founded in:

    1980
    1982
    1984
    1986
    1996

They were founded in 1980, as their logo proudly boasted.

9. Apple's own (but short-lived) Internet/BBS service was called:

    Uptime
    Apple Blossoms
    eWorld
    AppleNet
    Warp Six

E-world.

10. Which of the following was NOT an Apple II magazine on disk?

    Uptime
    Softdisk
    Toolbox
    II Alive

II Alive was an Apple II magazine, but never a disk.
(If anybody can come up with another true Apple II mag disk to use as a
choice, please let me know. Didn't fta have one, maybe?)

11. The following sentence was written in the in the introduction of the
owner's manual to one of Apple's systems.

The Apple [snip] is a complete microprocessor system, consisting of a Mos
Technology 6502 microprocessor and support hardware, integral video display
electronics, dynamic memory and refresh hardware, and fully regulated power
supplies. It contains resident system monitor software, enabling the user,
via the keyboard and display, to write, examine, debug, and run programs
efficiently; thus being an educational tool for the learning of
microprocessor programming, and aid in the development of software.

For which computer was this written?

    Apple I
    Apple II
    Apple II+
    Apple III
    LISA

It was copied from page one of the Apple Operation Manual, for the first
Apple computer.

12. The option key was once added to Apple's keyboard in place of the now
extinct:

    Reset
    Open-Apple
    Closed-Apple
    Clear
    F16

Closed-Apple. And, to go off on a little tangent, don't ever call the
open-apple key on your Apple II or Mac's keyboard "command" or "flower."
By doing so, you're giving in to a little bit of IBM speak, since their
keyboards had a command symbol first. Be proud of being a Mac user--
don't call it command, call it open-apple.

13. "In Speed We Trust" was the motto for for what software company?

     EPYX
     MECC
     PDE
     PBI
     FTA

All were actual companies, but the correct choice is FTA (Free Tools
Association). Their software still amazes me.

14. Which of the following Apple computers did NOT come standard with a
mouse?

    Apple LISA
    Apple IIGS
    512k Macintosh
    Macintosh LC II
    Powerbook 5300c

The Powerbook 5300c came with a trackpad, not a mouse.

15. Who is currently the "senior editor" of MacAddict magazine?

    Cheryl England
    David Reynolds
    Nikki Echler
    Mark Simmons
    Gil Amelio

Nikki Echler. (And convince this gal to plug my web page in her
magazine. I'll give you a big banner on top of the Apple Quiz page
that'll link to your homepage if you do!)

16. The original Apple Logo pictured:

    An Apple
    An Apple Tree
    Sir Isaac Newton
    An "Apple Computer" Banner
    All of the Above

It pictured Sir Isaac Newton sitting beneath an apple tree with an apple
over his head. And an Apple Computer Company banner wound around the
whole design. To see the original logo, point your browser to:
http://www.research.apple.com/extras/history/default.html

17. The first Macintosh Computer (not counting LISA) had how much RAM?

    64 kilobytes
    128 kilobytes
    256 kilobytes
    512 kilobytes
    768 kilobytes

18. Steve Wozniak's Web page is at:

    http://www.woz.com
    http://www.woz.org
    http://www.wozniak.net
    http://www.wozniak.com
    http://www.wozniak.edu

'Tis at http://www.woz.org.

19. Which color is NOT in the current Apple LOGO? (Try not to cheat.)

    Indigo
    Purple
    Orange
    Green
    They all are!

They all are... not. There is no indigo.
