Umm...Apple didn't start using Motorola CPUs until 1983, with the
introduction of the Lisa.  The various 8-bit Apples (I/II/III) used a CPU
design originally from MOS Technologies that was second-sourced by a number
of companies.  The IIes that I've bought have all had Signetics 6502s
installed (they were not the enhanced models; those, I think, had NCR 65C02
CPUs in them (it's an NCR data sheet that's reprinted in the tech
reference), but Rockwell had a 65C02 as well).  More recently, Apple has
bought PowerPC CPUs from IBM as well as Motorola.

(Been a while since I looked inside my GS to see where they got 65816s from;
the Zip accelerator in there now uses a WDC part, but I think Apple got the
original processor somewhere else.)
