Well if the owner of Asimov himself thinks it is a good idea to
at least have unmolested versions of the programs, I can't think
why anyone would be opposed.
The pirate badges are ugly additions to prestine games. I think
it is admirable that the owner of Asimov, which supposedly
wants to "preserve" A2 software, thinks this way....Patrick
wants to preserve the games AS THEY WERE.
Now you might say "the copy protection was part of it" to which
I have to disagree. The copy protection was NOT part of it
anymore than a 3.5" disk or a 5.25" disk was part of the program.
However, when you add a pirate badge to it, THAT's molesting
the program.
I don't think the "pirate badged" versions will get removed,
but if Asimov also wants "unmolested" versions....cleaned
up ones....uploaded by people who know how to remove
the screens, what's the problem? People who want to look
at pirate badges can download the molested versions while
people who want the pristine appearance can download
the rehabilitated ones!
