I'll see if I can dig up a 5.25" drive to do some testing (assuming
my SmartPort is not fried).

Like Patrick said, it does not hurt to have two versions...one with
the screens for those who want it and one without the screens.
It is good to preserve an unblemished copy for the sake of
keeping a copy of the software as is.  Apple II programmers won't
be around forever and if one day nobody can ressurect the programs
as is it would be truly sad.

Besides, almost all the old software has Copy II+ deprotect
parms.  At least many of them.  If people don't want to mess
with pirate badges, an alternative method could be to apply
Copy II+ 9.1 to the ORIGINAL software to deprotect sans pirate
screens then putting that up as an alternative "clean" version
on Asimov for the sake of preservation of "as is" software.
Two versions, one with screens and one without.  Seems good.
