Sorry to inject facts into this discussion :-) but here are Sony's
specifications for HD & DD 3.5" disks (I am only listing the ones that differ):

					MFD-2HD MFD-2DD

Max Rec Density (ftpr) 15,916 7,958
		(bpi) 17,434 8,717
Recording capacity 1.44MB 720KB
					80x18x2x512	80x9x2x512
Coating thickness (um) 0.9 1.9
Residual magnetic flux density (mT)	75 70
			       (gauss)	750 700
Coercive force (KA/m) 57 52
	       (Oe) 720 650

Taken from http://wsony.sosin.com.sg/cgi-bin/mfdsmalltable/model,m=10mfd-2ddbu

So they are different. I tried to get the 5.25" specs but the server reports
errors. I suspect that the difference between a 5.25" DD and HD is much larger
than that between a 3.5" DD and HD.
