As I mentioned in the article you followed up: check the name of your
Mac volume and relevant folders.  They must comply with ProDOS-8 naming
conventions: maximum of 15 characters, and only using letters, digits
and the period.

Also check that you don't have too many local volumes.  It appears that
the AppleShare support maps mounted AppleShare volumes to unused ProDOS
unit numbers.

I've just tried this between my IIgs and PowerMac.  The hard drive is
called "Empsoft2", and I was able to save a file from AppleWorks 3.0 in
a folder called "Data", and was able to load it back in again using
AppleWorks 5.1.  (On my system, this volume appeared in S7,D2.)

Using AW3 again makes me remember how many improvements there have been
between then and AW5.1...
