I'm having some problems with an Apple IIGS memory expansion card
that I'm hoping someone would be able to help me with. I have an Apple
IIGS memory card which came populated with 512K or RAM in the form of
8 256x4 chips. I've populated the rest of the card (3 more banks)
with the same chips, and shorted the two jumpers on the card (J1 & J2).
For some reason, when I go into the control panel to check the amount
of RAM that I have, it tells me that I only have about 1.2 MB instead
of the 2MB that I should have. Am I doing something wrong? Does this
card only except 256x1 chips for the other 3 banks? The memory card itself
is an "Apple IIGS memory expansion" card, which is installed in a Apple IIGS
with a 01 ROM, and no other cards. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

                                                       John.

If your card had room for three banks of chips then you only had 256k of memory
on the card. The other 256k to make up the 512k would have been on the mother-
board. Adding the three additional banks will bring the total to 1.2MB. ROM 01
motherboards have 256k, Rom 3 boards have 1MB.
