Without (rare) addon hardware, you can not read Apple II or PC
5.25" disks on the 'wrong' platform. [And except for a few old and
probably getting to be rare Macs, you can't do the same from a Mac

http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/csa2.html section 5.10 "How do I
read/write Apple II files from an IBM PC" and names of several methods
of getting around that.
Null modem is going to be your best bet for easily moving files
from an Apple II to anything. Simple, reliable, and it works to
anything with a serial port.
