Alright, this may be where I'm hitting into problems.  The tape I'm using
is a QIC-80, does your DC 2000 say anything about QIC-40?

The Apple Tape Backup 40SC may predate the "removable disk" SCSI ID
era.  Therefore, it may just be improperly recognized.  I haven't tried
removing the 40SC and trying to operate the backup utilities in the
RAMfast.  Perhaps it will complain *if* I don't have a tape backup unit
connected.  Then at least I'll know if the tape backup unit's ROM is
in tact.

I am using an external terminator and I have already swapped cables. 
What may be the problem is are the two 340MB Maxtors that ARE supplying
termination power to the SCSI bus.  They're old enough that they 
only support SCSI ID's 0 and 1.  I have not yet tested formatting another
drive with GS/OS or ProDOS and seeing if that rectifies the problem.
