Weak try. The forum manager did nothing when the original Delphi
poster was flamed for his/her question titled "Whatever happened to
Asimov?". As indicated by his own language, the forum manager was never
especially concerned with flames per se. He was scared purple when
SiFan's polite non-flame replies left the attackers looking both dead
and dead wrong.

That would be a very good idea.

No one on either side ever claimed the discussion was "off topic".
The forum manager's own rant makes this clear.
Since you have expressed a wish to continue this thread and defend
A2-Delphi policy, let us review the forum manager's comments ...

What I fear is that the same sort of jerks that frequent other online
areas with lies and provocation will think that they can hang out here
and do the same.
That turns out not to be the case. Flames and flamers will not be
tolerated.
<<
Nothing about "off topic" here, is there?
No. The A2-Delphi forum manager is calling names. He is not being
honest about tolerating flamers. He was only too willing to allow
flaming of the original Delphi user and, later, of SiFan-- until the
flamers' anti-Asimov arguments were being politely sliced to ribbons.

All the previous messages regarding privacy and Asimov have been
removed, not because the subject is forbidden, but because certain
people think they have a license to press thier views with extreme
rudeness.

"Off topic"? No. Instead, we have another untruth and a classic case
of "protesting too much" in a transparent attempt to cover the untruth.
The manager and staff of this forum are desperate to suppress any real
debate on the Asimov issue.
The statement asserts "extreme rudeness" on the part of those
supporting Asimov-- yet another untruth. Meanwhile, the messages of
supporters are deleted, which, of course, helps to avoid having anyone
read the messages and having the untruth exposed.

We dislike rudeness even more than we dislike piracy.
Any further discussion of this issue will be deleted as soon as it is
seen by a staff member.
If you think that is rude of ME, well, you're right. Too bad.
....

Nothing about "off topic" here. What we have is direct evidence
showing the real attitude of the A2-Delphi forum manager and staff
toward rudeness. They were pleased by the rude attacks on Asimov and the
put down of the original questioner. It seems clear that they do not in
the least mind being rude and insulting when they imagine they can get
away with it.

Why not just 'modify' the whole inane message to something much
more sensible, such as:

Evidently, your idea is to whitewash a collection of grossly
improper actions and purposeful deceptions in the name of conciliation.
You should know better. A conciliation based upon obvious falsehood is
nearly worthless.
There is no excuse for A2-Delphi suppression of polite or, even,
somewhat impolite discussion of any Apple II topic.
People make mistakes; but, people can learn to correct mistakes. If
the A2-Delphi forum manager and staff will end the heavy-handed
suppression of Apple II-related discussions and sincerely respect user
rights and wishes, A2-Delphi may survive and, even, prosper.
