I started off as a TRS-80 (Trash 80) user, then graduated to IBM PC.
The PC was not much better off...people with Pentiums today can't
imagine how bad the original PC was!
In around 1985, I had enough of the PC's limitations and switched
to an Apple IIe. I was so happy with it that many years later, when
prices began to fall during the decline of the II series, I captured an
Apple IIGS. I collected lots-o parts too, built a GS tower from a spare
motherboard...but only after I fried one connecting the power supply
leads in reverse.
Today, I use many different types of computers...Wintel, UNIX,
Mac, and GS. I still prefer the GS for many tasks. It is an aged
unit and I won't pretend that it can do the things a Pentium can,
but I also won't deny that for many years the Apple II series was
WAY better than IBM PC, XT, or AT (hey, I was once a PC user
and I have an XT and an AT in my collection today)! It ended
because Apple refused to improve it, not because it was bad.
