The return of a robot...

Greetings! After nearly two years  in Limbo I'm glad to report that I've
finally managed to regain my Internet access. Who am I? Two years are an
eternity in the computer world and I think I have to introduce myself.

I think there are three groups of people in csa2: People who don't know me,
because they are new here; people who know me and like me and the rest.

For the first group, I would like to say a few words about my insignificant
person. Call me Boris in real (?) life, Marvin in the InterNet. Why Marvin?
Because after many years with arrogant profs, corrupt officials, slimy
students, snappy secretaries and egocentric programmers, I have correctly
deduced that many people do not want another nice person. They just want a
manically depressed robot. They wanted it, they got it!
  
Call me an unfiltered realist, a Douglas Adams fan, an Apple II enthusiast,
manically depressed, and a smartass. ;-)

Call me mostly harmless, the keeper of ftp.uni-kl.de, an anti-bureaucrat, a
nature lover, an evolutionist,  a fanatic anti-fanatic, a humanist, another
PC slave worker, a dreamer, a wanna-be II gs programmer, a sarcast
and a cool guy!

For everybody in the second group who has been puzzled because I have left
without a trace in 1996, I have to apologize myself. Every ten years, or so,
everybody has a period where he has to reorganize his life
completely. With my exmatriculation, my Internet access went down and I
have been struggling very hard in 1997 on flea markets and street markets.
No money, no job, no future. I have tried to improve my II gs
knowledge in my spare time, but then my Focus hard card crashed, taking all
the created graphics and icons into oblivion and rendering my II gs hardly
useable for almost one year.

Funny, how just when you think life can't possibly get any worse
it suddenly does...

Finally, I have managed to get a job in a small company, I don't know if I am
good enough to keep it. The times are hard in these days, but I have got a
break at least. Time and money are still valuable, but I have regained
a working internet connection and I plan to do good things for the II
community again in the next months.

Enough talking, I guess you are all interested in software and not in
reasons why I don't have any! I have excavated a lot of  Public Domain disks
and I plan to blow the dust off my ftp site again. Feel free to check
ftp.uni-kl.de in regular intervals for new additions.

Everybody can feel free to add a link to this legal site, I know and respect
the copyright laws (although I am a little stinker who enjoys bending the
laws as far as I can without actually breaking them ;-) I plan to build an
archive of patches and deprotects for various software. Everybody is
invited to send me some.

I will also offer space for any demos and announcements from everybody
who has written something. The big ftp sites are the best marketplace for
all persons who still have an Apple II. I have still not too much time,
so be patient if you upload something, please.

Special greetings to the Vogon constructor fleet! Fortunately (for them) I
have not been able to bring my anti-bureaucracy web page back on-line yet.
But I think the ftp site is far more important than childish flame wars
and if life doesn't get too tough for me again, I will try to expand my
Apple II activities again.

By the way, big thanks to Rubywand for his alternative FAQ. I have just read
them and I think they have been a big deal of work. Much better than Vogon
Poetry. Keep up your love for the Apple II.

Sorry for the last period of inactivity again. You can believe me, I have not
enjoyed it very much. Even if I never manage to steal enough time to learn
IIgs programming, I will try to help as much as I can. Expect a few
Douglas Adams quotes and even more software in the future... :-)
