They did not know about the but in the ROM code before the game was
released. If Nathan did find the bug before the game was released, it
wasn't until an hour or two before but I'm pretty sure he didn't track
down the actual culprit to being in the ROM code until after the game
was released. He'll have to let you know himself.
There was one tester who's machine would crash on exiting the game.
None of the other nine or ten testers experienced any problems. As
Sheppy couldn't track down the reason that one tester's machine was
crashing, he figured the game was stable enough to release it.
After all, the game has been in the works for years and people were
starting to think it just wasn't going to happen. I think it was a
nice Valentine's Day present. Many people never experienced the
crash, myself included, and those that did only had to wait a week or
two for Nathan's new version of GUPP to fix it. Pretty good turn
around if you ask me.
