Re: WTB memory chips.

For James Stafford <jamess@cts.com>

Concerning your reply to a post as noted: "They probably still have some of
their ram cards that can have up to 8
or 16 megs of ram too. I can't remember the name of this ram card right off
hand."

I reply: Perhaps you are thinking of the Cirtech StatRam
card. It was a rather rare and very expensive special sort of RAM card for use
with any Apple II (including the GS), sold back in the 80's for well over $1000
and could have up to 8MB of RAM on the main card. It had an add-on Piggyback
card that could add another 8MB to it - giving a MAX of 16MBs of RAM. The
Apple II series could (if I'm not mistaken) use the full 16MBs of RAM. With
the fully populated card and the piggyback add-on card giving16MBs
I recall it sold for around $3600 and was retailed from
Resource Central I think.

The IIgs could only handle 8MB's - but, with special software that came with
the Cirtech STATRAM card - you could assign the other 8MBs of RAM for use as a
Static RAM drive when using it on a GS.

I have one of these with the pigygback add-on card, fully populated with 16MBs
of RAM. Unfortunately, no software came with the card. I've been trying to
locate the software for this Cirtech 16MB STATRAM card with no success.

Does anybody out there reading this happen to have the software available for
it? I'd really appreciate anybody that might have it giving me a reply with an
email.

Cheers,
Tom
