Re: What is the difference between ROM 1 and ROM 3 IIgs computers?

I own the real thing, I own a PowerMac with Bernie II the Rescue.
I disagreed completely on this point.

An emulator is not a good choice if:

- it runs slower than the real thing
- it does not provide the necessary hardware
- it is not 100% compatible

For the PowerMac/Bernie II the Rescue combo

- it runs so much faster than it is like having a 100MHz Zip in it
- it has everything the real GS have (except 5.25" drive) and more:
better 3.5" drive (super drive), better RGB monitor, etc
- it is close to 100% compatible. I migrate all my GS software to it,
and face with less problem compare to upgrade from Rom 1 to Rom 3.

Plus the fact below:

- you can store all 3.5" disks as disk images, thus can backup all
  FTA demos at once
- build in harddisk! I have a PowerMac 5500/225, it is really cool to
have a compact "GS" with only one wire needed, unlike the real thing.

XGS on the PC, however, don't delivers those, so I don't recommend going
to PC. I found that I love using the GS software on the PowerMac much
more than the real thing.
