Of course the post was read.

Q: How do you catch a bird?
A: You sprinkle salt on its tail feathers.
The idea is that if you can get close enough to the bird to
sprinkle salt on its tail feathers, then, you can just grab it.
If we should arrive at a time when there is no comp.sys.apple2,
then, the Apple II world will be gone. It is an observation of fact.

Interesting idea. As Jeff noted, at one time BBS and other on-line
activity was of no great significance to the existence of the Apple II
world. As with many other institutions, this has changed. If you're not
on the net, there is a good chance that you do not exist.
For a start, one thing is clear, comp.sys.apple2 and the Apple II
world could and would certainly exist without Genie or Delphi. Indeed,
aside from occasional posts attacking the mass of II users and Csa2, we
_do_ exist without Genie and Delphi.
Could the Apple II world exist without a usenet newsgroup? I doubt
it. We have no print publication of any size, most users depend upon a
PC for net access, and most see no reason to spend money to subscribe to
an on-line service. Without Csa2, there is no center.
Csa2 _is_ the pillar you mention. Remove it and you can kiss Genie
and Delphi goodbye.

Hey! Watch it there. Take a deep breath and settle down.
Information is important. If Genie and Delphi do not begin to do a
better job of sharing information, then everyone loses.

Apology accepted. Posts critical of Csa2 are not necessarily, in
every case, "silly and narrow". Still, if you wish to 'turn over a new
leaf' and embrace a wider perspective, that will be fine.
