This is not valid in the way you seem to think it is.

During the heyday of the post-Apple Apple II market, software companies
spent most of their time on the pay services. Even then, usenet was seen
as the dumping ground for everyone who wasn't serious enough about their
Apple to pay an online service.

And people here tended to be less understanding of the company reps, who
naturally didn't stay long once they concluded that their time was better
spent on people who at least paid by the minute to complain about products.

There were a few company reps here, but not nearly as many as on GEnie or
Compu$serve or Delphi. If you bothered to check out the pay services you
would find that people are still getting on-line support over there.

Absence of company reps from this newsgroup says absolutely nothing about
their "interest" in Apple II products.

But it does say a lot about the character of this particular newsgroup,
and how it hasn't gotten much better in the last five years.
