Ensoniq ESQ-1 sighting -- ESQ-1 & Mirage patches on a GS?

An Ensoniq ESQ-1 was sighted on the TV show ER!

The ESQ-1 and the Mirage contain the same sound chip found on
the Apple IIGS.  I found a huge following of users of these synths
on the web...and huge collections of instrument patches for these
synths.

Question: Can any of these instrument banks be used or can any
be modified to be used on the GS?  Each of the Mirage's 2 wave
backs contain the same amount of memory as the GS' DOC RAM,
so why not?  If it is the format, can't the patches be translated?
