AE GS Ram card

I have an Applied Engineering GS Ram card. It has a 44 pin  male
connector near the place it fits in the memory expansion slot. What is
this for? Is there some way of adding even more Ram with some kind of
add on? If so how much can I add and does anyone have one for sale?
