Seriously, though- I think there's enough out there to just buy them
when needed. Dunno what it is, but they have always felt faster than
the Gatorbridging method. It's just always worked. In the days of
Marinetti testing for the MacIP link layer we used both EtherWaves and
the Apple II Ethernet card. Certainly a lot less trouble.

Steve, something else perhaps, too. Boot the liveCD and use the stock
setup and see if that changes anything.

It's semi-ironic in a sense that the foot is in the other shoe this
time. I've used them on the Workstation card too, and even plugged
them into Mac 512e's with a 9 pin to 8 pin adapter from various
"Telephone Talk" kits of the era.
