I hear ya.  I, too, have my reservations on the EtherWave.  I recall
having it hang on me while working with the Windows 2000 AppleShare
add-on.  And sometime a few tests ago, I saw a bunch of "rtmp_packet
bad phase 1 version" entries in the netatalk logs.  It's cheaper and
smaller than a full-pledged router like the FastPath or Gatorbox, as
long as we figure out the real hardware/firmware issues.

At a 10,000ft. level, the router devices are handling keep-alive between themselves and the IIGS AND between themselves and the netatalk server. That's quite different from a bridge which is simply jumping from one transport medium to another. It has to propagate the ASP packets itself. That's where something appears to go wrong.

Will have more time this weekend to dig into it. I'm just glad I managed to score a second Gatorbox for backup...
