Back to the Ethernet adapter thread!
Supposing someone were to get a hold of an Apple II bus edge connector,
and interface it to an IBM PC ISA edge connector slot, wouldn't there
be inevitable issues like mapping in base I/O addresses, IRQ's and
the all critical ISA 8Mhz bus speed?
If all the hardware criticals could be met, wouldn't an Apple //e be
a bit slow to receive packets on a heavily saturated network? Now if
DMA were used I could see a complete packet being received, but it
seems as if data would be missed if the program read from I/O as
opposed to using DMA.
Just some thoughts, maybe someone else can set me straight where my
knowledge falters.
