The TWGS uses write-back cache technology to update the video
memory in the background at the required 1Mhz while it can continue
to process other information at accelerated speeds.  That's why the
computer does not slow down completely when you are doing
something on the GUI, like scrolling.  This is according to various
TWGS documents I have read.
