Mike's post jogged my memory about the RamFactor.
When I was using these cards with the RamCharger external power supplies, I
recall having to either remove a jumper (or re-position it) in order to
connect the external power to the card.
You may need to check your jumper position to make sure that it is supplying
motherboard power to the card. Otherwise, I suspect it will exhibit the dead
symptoms you describe.
You may even want to find a RamCharger to use with it.
FWIW, I used the RamChargers with my 5 Meg RamFactors, but it seems that
they would not always be that reliable, particularly during surge and
brown-out conditions. I made _darn_ sure I kept backups.
If I were to do it over again, I would plug the RamCharger into a good UPS
and I'll bet everything would be just swell. (Even that combo is slower than
a RamFAST, however).
