Stereo Card Question

If I get Stereo sound NO PROBLEM through my card in one program, should 
all of them **that are supposed to be** be in stereo?

I am asking this because some people have told me that wolf 3d Sound 
effects are **played through both channels**  This is NOT stereo, but a 
sound being played to *both* of your ears (I wear headphones)

When I play Wolf, the Intro music plays in *both* channels, in STEREO.

The sound effects are played through *one* channel in MONO.  I know that 
the sounds are supposed to be MONO.....But are they supposed to play 
through one channel or both?
