Re: ZModem and Proterm 3

... and now to follow-up my own article, I tried this, and
had the same problems: CRC errors and subpackets instead
of headers.
An email correspondant suggested that the problem was my
connection between the unix box and my IIgs was
dropping the 8th bit somewhere. My employer recently
changed the firewall box between work and home, so it
is remotely possible that this box is dropping bits.
But I doubt it. I'll be calling tech support about this.
(When I dial into the firewall machine, I specify the
machine I want to connect to -- ie, the one on my desk.
It sets up a telnet (or telnet-like) connection to that
machine. But a telnet session supports 8 bits, right?)
In the meantime, can anyone post the proper IIgs Modem
port control panel settings for connecting to a 14.4
modem with a handshaking cable? Annoyingly, this isn't
covered in the Proterm manual, and I can't find it in
the FAQ, either.
I've had enough people contact me with "Hey, I've got
this problem, too" that I think that once I get this
matter resolved, the full story should be captured in
the FAQ somewhere.
Thanks again to everyone for their help,
