Anyone know what a SAM card is??

Hello, picked up an old ][+ and it had a SAM card in it. A dual speaker wire
and a blue single strand wire come out of it. On the back it says SAM rev 8B I
think, and Don't Ask. Anyone know what it is, some sort of sound card
obviously, but what???
