Is there a game controller (joystick, paddles, Koala pad, etc.) connected
to the machine? If so, unbury it from beneath whatever avalanche of stuff
is on top of it so as to release the pushbutton. If the stick doesn't
have anything sitting on top of it and the problem persists, try
unplugging the game controller. If that fails, check the keyboard
carefully for a stuck solid-apple key. If that isn't the problem, then
start looking for a bad keyswitch under solid-apple...
My guess is that there is a joystick attached, and there is something
resting on top of the #1 pushbutton. Particularly if it is, for instance,
a Gravis stick or some other stick with nice big buttons...
