Quick, before they're gone: 5.25" DSDD diskettes

Last week I was putting together a starter software pack for a ][+
user and, once again, found myself digging through closets to come up
with a few 5.25" DSDD diskettes. Finally, it dawned upon me that  1. my
supply of spare DSDD diskettes was pretty well exhausted and  2. the
diskettes were getting hard to find at computer stores.   

     A call to a local disc & diskettes supplier and a check of some
diskette supplier web pages confirmed my fears: gone are the days of MEI
mailouts offering piles of 5.25" DSDD diskettes; they are no longer
considered a standard item.

     Just when Computer Shopper references were running out I came upon
Midwestern Diskette's web page ad which included ... 5.25" DSDD
diskettes!

     The MD salesman offered to check inventory to make sure they could
ship my order of 100 disketes and call back. This was an ominous sign.
When he called back and noted that the plain black versions were not
available and said MD still had the color versions and offered a reduced
price on a larger order, I did not hesitate to accept.

     Evidently, any 5.25" diskette is getting hard to find-- like most
PC's no longer even include a 5.25" drive. 5.25" DSDD diskettes, the
kind you need for Apple ][+ and all DOS 3.3 wares, are positively on the
road to extinction!

     Apple II users who expect to continue using their 5.25" drives for
downloaded DOS 3.3 wares, backups, new projects, etc. into the 21st
century may want to stock up on DSDD diskettes now, while they are still
