upgrading SCSI drive on Apple II cx ?
I'm trying to put a larger SCSI drive in my neighbours Apple IIcx,
currently running a 40MB Quantum ProDrive SCSI.
I've got several SCSI drives available to me, but none are recognized
by the cx. I've booted the system from the System 7.1 install disk
and the utilities disk, drilled down to the Disk Utilities (or the
like) and tried to select the disk, but to no avail. The SCSI
controller is 'hitting' the drive during the detection process, as I
see the drive activity light (on the base of the drive) responding in
time.
With a little more digging around, I found a file or folder that
contained what looked like drive specs for about 50 different drives.
I'm wondering if it will only accept predefined drives? If that's the
case, can I generate a definition for one of my drives, given the
various cylinder, head, sector information is well known?
Forgive me if I've got any Apple terminology wrong, I've lived my life
in the Wintel and Unix worlds.
Thanks in advance for any help you can afford,
