Re: Tower of Myraglen and Alien Mind Boxes (IIgs)

The more I think about it, I'm convinced that there was a plastic box,
too. Though when I posted that I knew I had those other two items on
the shelf, I may actually have that plastic casing here someplace
too.

Point is I remember something IIgs coming in clear plastic with
cardboard inserts, but since I had those here, I figured it wasn't
that.

Kinda cheesy operation, almost like you had to break it to get into
it.

As if they had the opportunity to get something, and decided to use it
because it was available. Gotta remember though, those were not
"obscure" in their day. That was brand new stuff. It was AppleFest
1988 in Boston that AlienMind was introduced, AppleLink Personal
Edition was shown there, too. I remember hopping a last minute flight
at the urging of other locals in the copy group, and among the
software I came back with was AlienMind and remember the comments,
"you picked the right one, because this isn't available on AE yet, and
from the posts it may not be for a while".

That was May 1988, the Backbay Hilton, Boston. The event marked the
return of AppleFest, to the Boston area although this time put on by
an event marketer as opposed to the Boston Computer Society. Around
the time of the earlier ones, once or twice the Pirates Harbor BBS
held a "Pirate Fest" in the vicinity of the same time/area. They would
infiltrate the trade show floor and come away with whatever titles
were present and get them posted on AE lines usually while the shows
were still in progress.
