     Yes; Finder.Data files remember stuff like whether or not a folder
should be displayed as opened. It may be that you once had the windows
open during shutdown and that this status was saved. One try at a cure
is to make sure your Finder Preferences (accessed via the "Special" menu
item) include having "Save Finder information onto disk" selected-- i.e.
put an "X" in the box and click "Accept". Now close the windows. If the
windows are closed when you do a shutdown, then, when you next boot, the
windows should not open.
