PhoneNET AppleTalk boxes or similar clones work with normal phone wire to
connect them. Apples Local Talk Connector Kit uses it own cable that comes in
the kit. Either of them is usable, you will need one for each computer.
Unfortunately if you want to boot the IIGS from the Mac hard drive you will
also need either version 2 or version 3 of AppleShare runnihg on the Mac.
Version 2 for system 6.x.x. and version 3 for system 7.x.x. If you have system
7.x.x on the Mac you can do file sharing with no additional software. The best
way is probably to make a local startup disk for the IIGS and then access the
Mac running system 7.x.x.

To make a local boot disk format a floppy and then use the /Install disk from
GSOS System 6.0.1 and chose custom install to make a Local Network Boot disk.
This disk will not have the finder on it because there is not room but you can
use the Launcher that will be installed to select programs on the Mac to run.
One handy way is to install the finder on the Mac hard drive and then use the
launcher to run the finder. If you then run other programs from the finder you
should be returned there when you quit the program.
