you to read the rest of the FAQ to answer many more questions without
your having to wait for a public response. Get an external serial
modem (a serial one will do, though you should check the motherboard
revision (FAQ section 2.4) of the //c, as the first one tends to have
many problems past about 2400 baud connections), a 9600 baud modem (or
get a 14.4 and just run it slower) is as fast as you'd be able to
run.
Next, get a dialup shell account with a local ISP; any form of
SLIP, PPP, or oddball proprietary (eg AOL, but as that's been ranked
the worst ISP in terms of service, plus deliberately shafts real
Apple IIs, why even bother with them?) is out. With a shell account,
you can get all the content from the internet with as little fluff
(graphics, web ads, other garbage) interfering and slowing you down.
