My, I loved that game. I found my notes last night. They were yellow on the
edges only, and rather crumpled.
In my notes I found only the clues; no solution. But I did find evidence that I
had struggled with that riddle: some anagrams and other wordplay.
Then, in the dim recesses of my memory, I recalled that there had been a riddle,
which gave me trouble, and which had a really stupid solution. I also recall that
it came near the end of the game. Now, I'm really not sure if this is it; my
riddle might actually come later...to finish the game you have to kit a player out
in the armor and send him (I sent a her) down to the first level to kick butt.
And I do remember that by the time I got to the sixth level I had the whole set of
armor.
Well, anyhow, the irritating riddle that sticks in my mind was answered by "THE
KNIGHT OF DIAMONDS" in caps, with the "THE." Alas, that doesn't seem to fit your
clues very well, but I can hardly remember. If that doesn't work try
"DALVALPUS." He's the jerk responsible for all this pain and suffering, and his
name is in the packaging. That's the sort of irrelevant detail that was used for
copy protection in the dark old days.
