   If you can boot off those drives when they connected to another
computer then yeah, the problem probably does not lie with them. Have
you tried multiple bootdisks on the problem computer to see that the
disk doesn't have a bad case of bit decay? If you suspect a power
supply problem, try disconnecting everything from that //e except for
1 drive (if not a duodisk unit) and the monitor. If it starts booting,
then yeah, could possibly be a power supply problem.

   When the //e is opened, make sure that the power supply cable to
the motherboard is securely connected. Also, on any socketed chips on
the motherboard or any cards (especially the disk controller), press
firmly on them-- they'll probably 'creak' back into a firmer
connection.  Look at the connectors between cards and the slots-- if
the gold 'fingers' at the bottom are looking tarnished, try cleaning
them with a little rubbing alcohol on Q-Tips or the like.

   As usual, do all messing with cards and chips with the power OFF.
