Dr. Steve,

My suggestion is to get your own Unix shell account and dial in from home.
Boycotting the university system may help, but I doubt this day in age
that you are going to get anywhere with Apple's loosing market share, even
in education.  It is often too expensive to justify non conforming
hardware and software to the chancellors office, regardless of the good
intent.  Major universities are getting more like corporations and less
like universities in computer support to faculty and administration
(sadly)...
