eh? when i got my first modem, it was a 1200 bps snail... my
telecommunications program was Appleworks GS.
when i upgraded my modem to 9600 bps, the best i could get was 4800
bps on a clear line, so i thought it was because of the serial port on
the ][gs.... i have (STILL!) the serial cable, which is a standard
RS-232 serial.... what's so different, that YOU can get more than
4800bps?
i still swear on external modems because they don't care what system
you connect them to. so long as the cable is capable, they're happy.
