What was the name of this ][ game??

You sent ships on mining expeditions to other planets.  The more you were able
to mine, the better the ship you could trade for on your return.

You also could send your crew to training in one of the branches of the
service, like the Merchant Marine.  Although, come to think of it, I might be
mixing up 2 different games.  (If I am, please tell me both titles.)

Thanks for your help.  I'm going crazy trying to remember this!
