Not suprising.  That adapter is nothing more than an RF switch.

You need an RF modulator.  You can get one from Radio Shack for something
outrageous like $25.  But you may have other options.

1)  Does your TV have "video" and "audio" inputs?  If so, just connect the
    ][e to the video input and switch the TV to that input.

2)  Okay, so it is an older TV or otherwise lacks that input.  Okay, then
    do you have a VCR?  Hook the ][e to the video input on the back (or
    front) of the VCR; you might have to throw a switch on the VTR or turn
    it to some oddball channel such as AU or 91 or something like that.
