CD Remote (on System 6.0.1 disks)

I try to run this Desk accessory from the apple menu, and the program 
says:


AppleCD  SC (tm) cannot be found, check cables and priority assignments.



Will my CD rom drive (not the appleCD SC) work with the program?  My drive 
is a Denon 1X.
